LexiKhoe is a digital crowdsourced Khoekhoe-English / English-Khoekhoe dictionary.
This dictionary's dataset is based on two main resources:
Many entries in the dictionary are derived from our comprehensive corpus of real Khoekhoe texts, both spoken and written. To enhance clarity, some entries are supplemented by information from Haacke and Eiseb's Khoekhoe Dictionary (2002), which serves as a trusted lexical reference.
This project was initiated and carried out by Meidad Ovadia as part of his MA studies in linguistics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, under the supervision of Prof. Alena Witzlack-Makarevich. Along with Meidad, many members of the research group, both in Israel and Namibia, supported and contributed to making this project possible.
Our goal is not only to contribute to the preservation of the Khoekhoe language but also to empower the Khoekhoe-speaking community.
We invite you to join us by contributing entries to the dictionary and sharing your feedback to help us improve it.
